The approach

You're the expert on your life.
This room brings safety and the tools to support your journey.

Gentle, trauma-informed, and free of judgment. Some people come to change something; some come to finally be accepted as they already are. Both belong here. Whatever brings you in, the work follows your lead: a place to take the mask off, look at your life authentically and without shame, and go at your own pace. Whether that means finding acceptance or making a change, it stays yours to decide.

Affirming, not corrective

Your neurotype and identity aren't problems to be solved.

Paced by you

Slow weeks are allowed. We don't force momentum.

Whole-life

Work, relationships, identity, rest, not just symptoms.

Who I help

Adults who've spent a long time translating themselves.

ADHD & Autistic adults

Late-diagnosed, self-identified, or still wondering. Brains that run on interest, not urgency.

LGBTQIA+ & ENM folks

Identity, transition, family, relationships of every structure, and the authentic practice of being yourself out loud.

Burnout & overwhelm

When masking all day has quietly cost you something, or a big change has thrown things off balance. A way back to rest.

Trauma, anxiety & depression

Gentle, paced work that doesn't push past what your nervous system can hold.

Folks who've too often found therapy hard to reach, offered only daytime slots that mean stepping out of work to mask through a session. This practice is built the other way around: evening hours, 4 to 9 pm across Washington, so support fits around your day.

Ryan Tropf — smiling, with a top-knot, beard, and glasses, wearing a blue zip-up

Hi, I'm Ryan Tropf. (he/they)

In 2019, I was diagnosed with ADHD, and a lot of my life suddenly made sense. Showing up painfully early so I'd never be late. Perfectionism. Overcommitting so people would see me as reliable, back when I felt anything but. That's masking, and like a lot of neurodivergent people, I'd done it so long I'd lost some connection to myself. Masking that goes on long enough tends to cost us, in anxiety, depression, and burnout.

I became a therapist to offer the room I wish I'd had. The work is neurodiversity-affirming and trauma-informed, centered on radical self-acceptance rather than assimilation. The goal isn't to help you mask better. It's to offer the safety and the tools to take the mask off, reconnect with yourself, and recognize the strengths in the way you're wired.

I'm also queer and ethically non-monogamous myself, so your identity and the shape of your relationships won't need translating here.

Before social work, I spent ten years co-founding and leading an education technology company, building a team where neurodivergent people were supported by design. That work reached an industry-leading turnover rate of 4.67%, proof that the right accommodations produce real results.

Frequently asked questions

You don't have to book to learn more.

What happens in the free consult?

A relaxed 15 minutes by video. You tell me a little about what's bringing you in; I tell you how I work. No intake paperwork, no pressure — just a chance to feel whether we're a fit.

Do I need a formal diagnosis to work with you?

No. Self-identified and questioning folks are just as welcome. If you suspect you're autistic or ADHD and have never had it named, that's a perfectly good place to start.

Is this only for people in crisis?

Not at all. Plenty of clients come simply because life is heavier than it should be, or they're tired of masking. You don't have to be at a breaking point to deserve support.

What does it cost? Do you take insurance?

Sessions are $125, private pay. I'm not billing insurance yet — I expect to begin accepting it in October 2026. Until then, payment is direct, and I'm glad to talk through what that looks like in the consult.

When are sessions available?

Evenings, 4 – 9 PM Pacific. That's deliberate: daytime-only availability means stepping out of work and masking through a session, which is exactly what a lot of my clients are already exhausted by. Evening hours mean therapy fits around your day instead of interrupting it.

How do sessions actually work?

Everything runs by secure video, anywhere in Washington. The practice uses Sessions Health, so you'll have your own private client portal for booking, paperwork, and messaging me between sessions — all in one place, rather than scattered across email threads.

Opens your email app so your question goes straight to Ryan — nothing is stored on this site.
